WELCOME to my restoration page.

I am a semi-retired engineer who loves to fix fine old things that can still be useful.

I believe that it is far better to keep well-made products working longer than to add to our landfills.

I have had a busy winter in my lab resoring vintage Tektronix and Hewlett Packard measurement instruments to almost "like new" working condition. I specialize in what I consider a very clever modular instrument system from Tektronix called the TM500 series. TM500 was/is a sort of a plug and play modular collection of lab-grade measuring instruments that were very versatile and accurate. They were produced over the 1970s and 80s when the best electronics was made in the USA, before virtually all electronic manufacturing went overseas.

With a bit of care and attention, these fine repairable instruments can work as well today as when they were new, unlike much of today's electronics.

A small spring flood in the basement lab here has caused a hasty re-organization, but now things are in much better. Here's a part of the current "collection" of vintage instruments:
